AAI Youth Ambassadors updates from Nepal

We are sad to say that we have gone on our last humanitarian trip of the summer.  But, don’t worry, from this experience we know that there will be more trips to come.

To wrap up this summer, we traveled to Kathmandu Nepal and lived with 124 monks in Seygu Gaden Phodrang Monastery.  This experience was so rich and full of culture unlike our own, we taught young monks english, art projects, dancing and hung out with older teen monks taking funny photos.

Through this experience, and many others that we had over the summer, one common observation stood out, there are not enough youth volunteers going on humanitarian trips.

You don’t have to wait to be an adult to help people, you can start helping people right now. There are many other peers like Kinley and I that have also inherited flight benefits because of their parents participation in the airlines and it is so necessary for you to use your benefits for the benefit of others.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The teen monks in Nepal and teen moms in El Salvador all expressed how grateful they were to just be able to talk to someone their own age.

There is a lot of adult volunteering, which is beautiful and they contribute so much toward humanitarian effort, but there’s no reason for youth to wait to get involved.

We think it is time for more teens to take action and get involved in humanitarian work. The best part about it is that there are so many places that could use your help.

Although humanitarian efforts are offered across the world from you, they are also offered across the street from you. So, instead of waiting until you are an adult to start helping other people, get started by going across the street and help out at a morning breakfast for your neighbors.

Just last week, Kinley and I also made 30 packed lunches for unhoused friends in our neighborhood, people in need of food.

Help is needed everywhere around you; you can start local, then go global.
