Nayib Bukele, the candidate of Nuevas Ideas, was inaugurated as the President of El Salvador for the 2024-2029 term in a solemn ceremony held at the National Palace in San Salvador. Following a decisive victory in the presidential elections held in February this year, Bukele took the oath of office on June 1, marking the beginning of his second consecutive five-year term. This historic electoral triumph made Bukele the most-voted president in El Salvador’s history and solidified his position as the most favorably viewed leader in the Americas, according to international surveys. Félix Ulloa was also sworn in as Vice President of El Salvador for the 2024-2029 term, beginning his second consecutive term alongside President Bukele.
Outside the National Palace, thousands of Salvadorans gathered to witness Bukele’s oath and to hear the subsequent address he delivered after being sworn in. The ceremony was broadcast live to reach a wider audience. The ceremony underscored Bukele’s continuing influence and the broad support he enjoys among the Salvadoran populace as he embarks on his next five-year tenure.
