We were so thrilled to have one of our best survivor trainers for Human Trafficking Awareness partcipate at the UN Convention against Organized Crime in Vienna Austria in October! Below is a transcript of her testimony. Donna is pictured with fellow survivor Tanya Gould.
‘My Great Grandfather was a 13-year-old slave named Balanta Malcolm, the trafficking of people of color began long before it was given a name or a movement.
The Sustainable Development Goals give this assurance: the priority of all mankind must be the prosperity of all mankind and womanhood.
As a flight attendant of a major commercial airline, I acknowledge Airline Ambassadors International in educating aviation professionals worldwide, to recognize and report human trafficking aboard aircraft, and training 2000 law enforcement officers in 7 nations. Woman At The Well Transition Center founded by a trafficking survivor, has dedicated 2 decades to restabilization of victims and leadership development among Survivors. Through the collaboration with Global Strategic Operatives public health professionals have a comprehensive training to recognize, report and respond in their practices.
As a Survivor Leader of human trafficking and organized crime for 7 years, I was sold, traded and enslaved. We must hold all nations accountable for upholding the guidelines of human dignity based on the framework of the SDGs.
If you ignore the voices of Survivors, can you ignore the cries of innocence heard in the stories of men, women and children who suffer, wait and hope every day?”
