International Youth Summit on AI, Gender Equality and Human Rights

The Global Youth Network Organisation, in collaboration with Dr. Shaleen Das, Youth and Women Affairs Specialist, United Nations speaker, Human Rights and Gender Studies expert, HRM and Soft Skills lecturer, and SDG educator, organised an international Youth Summit bringing together young participants from 30 countries.

Dr. Shaleen Das has extensive experience in teaching and training across law, aviation, and business universities, with a focus on human rights, gender equality, soft skills, sustainable development goals (SDGs), and youth and women’s empowerment. She has also served as a Brand Ambassador for the Youth for Human Rights International (YHRI), Washington, D.C., Guardians of Human Rights, Florida, and AAI, New York.

During the summit, Dr. Shaleen Das engaged with young participants on several important global issues, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), gender equality, and human trafficking. She encouraged the youth to understand their responsibilities as global citizens and highlighted the importance of using knowledge, technology, and education to create a more equal and just society.

A special highlight of the summit was the launch of Airline Ambassadors International. Participants were introduced to the organisation, its mission, objectives, and the work it undertakes to promote awareness, empowerment, equality, and human rights.

Nancy Rivard, Founder of AAI, shared the organisation’s journey, its vision, and the experiences that shaped its development. She spoke about the importance of creating opportunities for young people to become active voices for human rights and positive social change. She also discussed her personal journey and the values that inspired her to work in this field.

The summit also highlighted the work and vision of her academy empower global & her mission and the importance of educating young people about fundamental human rights. Through meaningful discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions, the participating youth were encouraged to become advocates for equality, dignity, peace, and human rights in their respective countries.

The participation of youth from 30 international countries made the summit a truly global platform for learning, dialogue, and collaboration. The event demonstrated how young people, when equipped with awareness and leadership skills, can contribute significantly to addressing global challenges such as gender inequality, human trafficking, technological change, and human rights violations.

The summit concluded with a strong message of youth empowerment, international cooperation, equality, and responsible leadership, inspiring participants to take forward the knowledge gained and become positive change-makers in their communities and beyond.

And at the United Nations July 30th. She will also speak in Spain on Sept 3rd as part of a panel on Unbreakable women.

Staying at Costa Rica’s animal rescue center was an experience unlike any other. You feel at one with the animals, eating the same fruits and vegetables, watching the same sunsets and being tormented by the same escaped monkey. We are taught mostly the differences between humans and animals, but this rescue center allowed for us to see the same necessities, emotions, and need for love these animals deserve.

At the rescue we prepared and delivered breakfast and dinner for the animals. There were various other jobs like cleaning the enclosures and collecting bowls from previous meals which we also helped with. On one of the days we spent the morning making toys for “enrichment”. All morning we tied coconuts covered in peanut butter to sticks and wrapped papaya in banana leaves for the Kuwaitis, raccoons and various monkeys. When we finally finished, we were able to deliver the gifts to them. Watching them explore the toys and play with them was so rewarding and goes to show the beautiful experiences Costa Rica’s rescue center creates.

For our third mission trip of the summer we decided to stay domestic and travel a quick 4 hours to Chicago. We spent time volunteering at Mission of Our Lady of the Angels. Also known as MOLA; an extremely successful company that serves food to over 400 people every single Saturday and Tuesday, which is then shared or distributed to family and friends, ultimately providing for over 1000 people in Chicago. We met sister Stephanie, who has raised over $2,000,000 in donations by running marathons, and helps run MOLA along with Bishop Bob. Sister Stephanie assigned us tasks and the pace assisting at MOLA was like no other mission trip before, it was really impressive how efficient everything was. Over the course of just two days, we were able to package apples, potatoes, carrots, cucumber, eggs, apples, tomatoes, sandwiches, sweet treats and so many other items of food. We were also able to assemble over 1000 backpacks to be donated to elementary school and high school kids for back to school.

The most impressive and honestly beautiful thing that MOLA was able to achieve was distributing pounds upon pounds of food to over 400 people, which as I said before, is then distributed among families. Customers come through with tickets and times, and then walk through the building met by volunteers who were distributing different items of food. We were stationed outside, and were in charge of packing up people’s cars and bagging all of the items which had a steady stream of people for around 3 hours. In those 3 hours one woman in particular pulled me aside and showed me a photo of her daughter, who was also my age but she passed away due to gun violence a few weeks ago. She thanked us for our hard work and also thanked MOLA because she wouldn’t have had access to food without them. The west side of Chicago is a lot brighter and healthier because of MOLA, their constant work and dedication to distributing food is extremely impressive, and we strongly recommend taking a quick trip to assist and feed people in Chicago.

We have two fundraisers coming up July 11th and July 26th with International home designer Vickie Town in Bellevue and Kim Maguire In Kirkland.

The funds from those two fundraisers will purchase water units for children and their families and the people of Venezuela we actually have boots on the ground from Airline Ambassadors International Luis Urrea who’s there right now in Venezuela digging people out with his hands along with the other volunteers and families of people that has lost their lives.

Our coffee for a cause water for children project will be the name for this fundraiser and our custom made water units that takes out viruses and contaminants will be in honor of Ambar Barche, Luis Urrea, Alejandro Fernandez Clean Water Foundation, Airline Ambassadors, Vickie Town, Mariana Infante MD, and Bryan Geraghty CEO of Northgate Rare Coins who has donated Rare Coins for Clean Water Foundation to sell at the fundraisers.

Because of your overwhelming support at our recent Bellevue event at the gorgeous home of International Home Designer Vickie Town, we have raised enough to provide clean, fresh drinking water to over 750 people in Venezuela!

Here is the first hand story from Luis Urrea in Venezuela:

Greetings my beloved sister. I arrived to Venezuela approx. a week before the horrific event. Even though my house in Caracas sustained structural damage, I am more than thankful to be alive!

Under the grace of God only hours after the earthquakes I assisted first responders in the buildings which collapsed located in Altamira which are approx 3 minutes from my house. The following days after and presently we’ve been attending to and helping those in critical need of food, rescue equipment and wound care for those greatly affected in La Guaira.

The odor of countless bodies is unimaginable! Regardless of this with my credentials as Global Ambassador & Coordinator for the Wheelchair Foundation I have been granted special approval to walk every inch of the devastated areas. This has permitted me to have a clear understanding of the true needs.

Thus far I’ve been able to provide more than 5,000 meals, medicine for more than 300 families, higiene products for countless others etc…all with my own resources. The aid being collected from abroad has an array of issues and complications because of political interference from both sides.!…I have allowed this and thus I remain boots on the ground by being boots on the ground in identifying, evaluating and assisting those in need case by case. I’m in constant communication with lead rescue teams, head of firefighters, and medical staff to be most effective in assisting the families working vigorously to either save lives and/or discover the lifeless bodies of their loved ones.

Every social media outlet will tell their story but nothing can or will compare to one seeing the devastation and cry for help with their own eyes. It’s absolutely heartbreaking!!!

To be most effective during these critical moments we need to obtain financial contributions and count with those few individuals who have a clear conscience of providing the essential items where they are most needed. That’s the sad reality.

With the help of Airline Ambassadors International, Sylvia Doreen Bryan organized a project to help the Parish of St. Elizabeth recover after being devastated by Hurricane Melissa. Dr Kevin Hylton and Sylvia visited the areas most affected. Sylvia’s observations and final report will show donors how their kindness and generosity made a difference.

 

 

Our presence in Siloah, St. Elizabeth was bittersweet. Seeing my friends and former neighbors was an emotional moment. Some of the roofs are still destroyed after 4 months. Groceries, essential items and financial donations were given to start the process for rebuilding their homes. Before we left, our friends prepared dinner for us. To lose so much but still they thought of us. This reminded me how selfless and loving they are.

Update: My neighbor’s electricity was restored 6 weeks ago.

During a recent visit to Tiny Tots Educare in Black River, I saw firsthand how your donations are making a difference. Hurricane Melissa tore off the school’s roof and damaged desks, supplies, and equipment. When I arrived, carpenters and staff were already hard at work restoring the building, funded in part by contributions we delivered directly to the school’s director. The children are back in the classroom. The school still lacks electricity, and the wider Black River community continues to recover, but Tiny Tots is once again providing students with a safe, stable place to learn. Your generosity helped make that possible.

Dr. Kevin Hylton and myself met with Pastor Tulloch.

When we arrived at St. John Anglican Church in Black River, it was worse than the media coverage and photos. The church building (almost 300 yrs old) was decimated.

To see the cemetery with cracked and broken tombstones was unbelievable. He shared with us that the congregation has continued their worship services. The resilience of Jamaicans was present and felt. There is PTSD among the children. Every time it rains, they are afraid another storm will destroy what they have.

Before we left, Pastor Tulloch told us an anecdote that will never be forgotten. He visited the church everyday. One day he saw a bird with one piece of straw. He witnessed everyday the bird rebuilding a nest. He watched the baby birds being born and learning how to fly.
This is something for all of us remember. It’s possible to start over no matter what.

Pastor Tulloch promised us updates on the rebuilding of the church that was destroyed.

Airline Ambassadors International partnered with the Excelsior Unity Circle for the Hurricane Melissa Project. Excelsior Unity Circle consist of professional women that share the same passion as AAI in service to the Savanna La Mar Hospital in the Parish of Westmoreland. EUC’s President Rashenna Wilson along with Caroline Austin-Mattison arranged their international mission pre-Hurricane Melissa.

Dr. Lernice Henry, the pediatrician of the group, saw first hand the needs of the pediatric department. As a result, there was a mutual agreement with AAI, and a generous donation was presented to the Excelsior Unity Circle.

Sylvia Bryan of AAI personally delivered the donation to the Savanna La Mar Hospital pediatric department on behalf of Excelsior Unity Circle. AAI with EUC share the same passion in helping others in need. It was a meaningful partnership.

Summary

Kiwanis Village School Center is place in where we encourage children between 3 to 18 years old in education and sports activities which will guide them to have a better development. In the school we work in groups: Children from 3 to 5 years old we introduce to basic education and children from 6 to 18 years old who attend school support classes. Around 50 children are being attended at classes and in sports activities more than 60 children from the whole community participate.

Solution

Donating to this cause will help the immediate need of providing basic necessities for the children at the school such as balls and sport implements, school supplies, chairs, classroom renovations, tech supplies like computers, printers, projectors; things that will help to bring a better service and education to the children and youth at the school center.

Long-Term Impact

This project will have the long term impact of improving the lives of the children and youth who have live and developed in a conflicted community by providing items that will make easier the development and the interest of not being a gang member and built a better community for their future.

Help Ugandan Women earn income with Mushrooms!

Summary

Our eco-friendly project gives women a source of income while putting to use agricultural residues that are filled with nutrients. We will train 100 women in rural communities of Uganda in mushroom cultivation. Our four-day training teaches how to cultivate mushrooms and provides each woman with all material for her first planting of 25 mushroom gardens producing 35/40 Kgs. Our teaching concentrates on 12 women who get a hand on experience enabling them to teach other women in the community.

Solution

Mushroom growing is unique as it can be done all year round with low capital investment, minimal space, and is a home based activity. It is a viable venture for women facing a problem of inequality in land acquisition and ownership. Cultivation can be done inside the house or in a small shed built with banana leaves and poles. Agricultural residues freely available can be used as substrate. Most importantly, women’s desire to provide for their families is the driving force of our project

Long-Term Impact

Mushroom production increases income, provides food security, and uplifts women’s status within the family and in their own community. Economic empowerment helps women develop personal and social capabilities: build self-confidence/a sense of achievement, improve leadership qualities, & increase problem solving and decision making capacity. Trained women multiply the return on our investment by training other women. Mushrooms provide protein, valuable minerals and vitamins, thus improving diets

Summary

Wigs of Hope! Working with cancer patients, we have been able to see the high level impact wigs can have on self esteem and possitive attitude towards overcoming chemotherapy treatments. We are looking to make our program more sustainable, in order to keep up with the demand of wigs. We want to help all women that come to the national hospitals; One wig, costs $100.00 to produce and it takes up to two months as we only have 1 person that has the training to construct the wigs.

Solution

The project will allow us to train 1 or 2 more people on the trait and this way we will be able to keep up with the demand of wigs at national hospitals. Also, the donations will allow to diminish the economic challenges of keeping the program alive.

Long-Term Impact

The long term impact is generating at least 3 steady jobs, but even more than that is to donate 50 wigs that will replicate in benefiting in more than 150 women with breast cancer. Each wig can serve the needs of at least 3 patients with the proper maintenance and care

Summary

Dental health is a major issue in El Salvador; the need is evident, even on kids. Two years ago we began a program to address this issue. We are helping kids from the rural areas that belong to the poorest of communities, so that they learn how to brush their teeth and correct any already present dental health issues. Medical campaigns are taking place, these campaigns include education on the topic, dental cleaning and fighting tooth decay.

Solution

This project will be the vehicle to create awareness and it will help so more people get involved. The evidence of doing these medical campaigns and showing the direct and indirect impacts on the kids and their families has no price. With this opportunity, we remove the risk of children developing more complex diseases.

Long-Term Impact

Potential long term impact is creating a snowball effect that will grasp the attention of public systems to always provide these type of services as it is so vital for the proper development of next generations.
