Greetings to everyone in Japan and special thanks to ANA Holdings for coordinating this important conference. I July 31st is the United Nations Day against Trafficking in Persons so this is very appropriate! Iam Nancy Rivard, President of Airline Ambassadors and we have taken a lead in training and awareness to the aviation industry.
We were last in Japan in April 2018 at a seminar by Hiroshi Ishida with participants from Japanese airlines, United Nations Drugs and Crime, and International Organization for Migration. Donna Hubbard was with me at that event. She is one of our best trainers and a survivor of human trafficking herself. She will share later in this message.
- Between 2010 and 2020 Airline Ambassadors provided 131 trainings and presentations to airlines, airports and facilities around the world. After 2020, and COVID, the airports stopped booking our regular trainings and opted for the free training from the US Dept. of Homeland Security Blue Campaign. The training is on line only and not interactive.
- At the same time my husband and I moved to the country of El Salvador, where I am now.. We have 14 projects around the world where we are fundraising to help vulnerable children. But we did not stop our advocacy or support of the cause of human trafficking awareness.
- We are good friends with the dynamic President Nayib Bukele, and I encouraged him to host a Presidential screening of the Sound of Fteedom and reaffirmed his commitment to fight child trafficking and exploitation. On June 24, El Salvador increased its rating in the US Trafficking in Persons Report.
- Additionally, we are working with the Ministry of Design and Development to coordinate an International Congress against Illegal Trafficking in El Salvador October 25 -282024. We would welcome a speaker from ANA Holdings or Japan!
- We will highlight our TIP Line App as part of that Congress and plan to train the employees of Avianca in September.
- Airline Ambassadors always includes survivors in trainings, and Donna Hubbard will be part of this training, for Avianca too. She was with me in Japan in 2018. Earlier this month she won the Freedom Award in New York from Pact , who have fought child slavery trafficking and sexual exploitation in travel and tourism since 1990.I will introduce her now to say a few words
