Cheryl Robinson and Brian O’Rielly just returned from the Philippines, and visited with the Abatex project the Dawo kids and Shepherd of the Hills
Philippines Mission Trip
My heart is full after a quick but incredibly special trip to the Philippines with Uncle Brian O’Reilly ! We were so blessed to spend time with children and families, share some love, and create memories that I hope they will carry with them for a long time.
We started at Abatex, where families live on a dumpsite. When we asked the children what they wanted most, their answer was to have a party at Jollibee! So that’s exactly what we did! We celebrated an early Christmas with games, yummy food, gifts, and so much love and laughter. Sometimes it’s the simplest things that bring the biggest smiles.
Next, we headed to Olongapo to spend two amazing days with the Dawo family. We treated the children to something extra special: an overnight hotel stay with swimming, haircuts, lots of delicious food, and an early Christmas shopping spree with Uncle Brian, including groceries to help feed the family for over a month! Watching them enjoy these experiences and seeing their excitement made it all so worthwhile.
We were also honored to attend a beautiful wedding at Shepherd of the Hills. It was so special to witness a young woman we’ve known for many years begin this new chapter of her life. The following day, we invited families from SOTH, both, pastors, and children to our hotel for a day of swimming, food, fellowship, and laughter.
It was a short trip, but we filled it with so much love, joy, and special moments. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to be part of these families’ lives, and especially thankful to Uncle Brian for all the extras he did to make this trip so memorable for the children.
I came home with a full heart and so many beautiful memories. Sometimes we can’t change everything about someone’s circumstances, but we can give them moments of happiness, remind them they are loved, and let them know they are not forgotten. And that is what makes these trips so special to me.
