In May custom made water units from the Clean Water Foundation were delivered to Panama by Alejando Fernandez!
Abagail Martin helped identify the schools. She is one of the coffee entrereneurs who is part of our “coffee for a cause water for children music project” and who put this project together with one of the local teachers and facilitated the delivery. Abigail will be seeing the direct impact on those students which is a powerful reminder of why we do this work.
As we look ahead, the funding for our next phase is starting shortly. This opens the door for a “bundle package” of projects across Panama, the Dominican Republic, and El Salvador.
This isn’t just about shipping hardware; it’s about creating a sustainable, tech-driven water network across the region.
We are very eager to have the students and faculty at Seattle University take a central role in these three projects. As you know, Dr. Philip Thompson was instrumental in getting this entire initiative off the ground with Leon. and we want to ensure his legacy and the university’s engineering excellence continue to lead the way as we scale.
We see a massive opportunity for students to get involved in several capacities:
Technical Optimization: Analyzing performance data from the Panama units to refine the engineering for the upcoming Dominican Republic and El Salvador installations.
Global Logistics: Managing the “bundle” rollout as we transition from pilot units to a multi-country deployment.
On-the-Ground Support: Participating in virtual troubleshooting and training sessions with our partners on the ground, like Alejandro, Abigail and the local educators.
This is a chance for students to work on a high-stakes, multi-billion dollar vision that provides a real solution to the global water crisis. We want them to the studens to feel the same excitement—seeing their designs actually changing lives in real-time.
