“Dear friends,
Even in the middle of summer vacations, the joy at our homes never takes a break!
Last week, we celebrated the birthdays of two of our precious little ones at House of Life. Thanks to the generosity of Daniela and her friends from the U.S. Embassy in El Salvador, our dining room and backyard were transformed into a huge celebration — complete with balloons, delicious food, sweet treats, and of course, birthday cake.
The children’s faces lit up as they played games, opened presents, and felt the love and care of people who believe in them. These moments do more than celebrate a date on the calendar — they remind each child they are valued and loved.
I’ll never forget the day one of our teen mamas began to cry as we sang “Happy Birthday” to her. At first, I worried we had triggered a painful memory—but then she told me that was the first time someone celebrated her birthday. Moments like these remind us that the House of Life is more than a home; it’s a place of healing.
It’s beautiful to see how the teen mamas get so excited when we celebrate their babies’ birthdays. As we celebrate their life, we’re also filling the void in these young mothers’ hearts—giving them the joy they never had in their own childhoods. It’s as if they are reclaiming those lost moments through their little ones. That’s healing in action.
And that’s not all — our friends from Lend a Hand Missions rolled up their sleeves to renovate one of our bathrooms, giving it a fresh and functional makeover.
From birthdays to better bathrooms, your kindness continues to change lives here at Mi Casa Kids and the House of Life. Whether you are near or far, you are part of every smile, every tear of joy, and every heart healed. We’re so thankful to God that you’ve joined us on this incredible journey.
