We realeased the first 71 turtles from the La Palapa project on Sept 28, 2024, Deb Quigley had come to Barra de Santiago to give a training the the fishermen’s wives on health education, She had a chance to experience this moving release. We blessed the little turtles on their release into the ocean of their destiny! AAI is pleased to have engaged 50 fishermen in this project and they are learning turtle conservation as well as being employed for 6 months. Ruben Navarro heads the nesting site at La Palapa!
We had a turtle meeting on the Guardians of the Water project on Sept 9th and many representatives of ASA – the Water Authority for El Savador attended
Even Rosa of AMBAS – another NGO working with turtles on the beach, participated at the meetings and we shared ideas of how to make the project more successful;
