Marvin Hernandez: A Successful Entrepreneur
After Marvin graduated, he focused on implementing new techniques to help him grow his small hotdog stand. He now also offers pizzas and gourmet hamburgers. Marvin is now sharing his love of cooking by teaching cooking classes to his friends and relatives.
Gabriela Grande:
Gabriela is the mother of two young girls aged 16 and 18. Her youngest daughter, Andre, was born with a degenerative condition and she is unable to move or speak. For many years, Gabriela had been able to sell only tamales, in spite of her desire to expand her business. After completing culinary training, Gabriela´s business has grown since she added Mexican food and a variety of Salvadoran dishes to her menu. People come to her home to pick up what they ordered or her eldest daughter delivers to our communities where over 200 families live. This enterprise allows Gabriela to spend the day with Andrea, who requires her constant assistance.
Brandon Ticas:
Brandon Ticas is our youngest scholarship beneficiary. He will be 18 next year. Brandon a very responsible and hardworking young man. His goal is to start his business and to be able to help his parents to support the expenses of his family. Cooking has been his passion since he was very young. Brandon has seen how his extended family has fled the country. Brandon wants to reach his dream in his country, El Salvador. He now makes cakes to sell as well as continues his schooling.
Laura Alvarenga
Laura is twenty years old. She lives with her parents in a very small village. Laura started to work as a chef’s assistant in a very popular restaurant in San Salvador. She is implementing the cooking techniques she learned thanks to the scholarship Laura obtained through Airline Ambassadors. Laura expresses her joy for being able to take over some economical family responsibilities.
David Lopez
David Lopez is a thirty-year-old who lives with his grandmother. She is eighty years old and has high blood pressure. David got his first job after graduating from our Culinary School. He feels very proud as this is the first time, in spite of his age, he has a formal job. He is happy and proud of being able to cooperate in the economic wellbeing of his family.
Rosa Garcia:
Rosa is forty-eight years of age. She is from Nuevo Cuscatlan, El Salvador. She is a member of the community of over 200 homes built in the área. Rosa lives with her three children. When Rosa started the course, she worked in a Taco stand, however, it was not a stable employment and had no possibility to grow in the company. Now, Rosa, is part of a LA NOVENA, a company that offers catering for events. She has currently participated in over ten caterings, serving over 150 guests. Rosa is a reliable employee who excels at her job.
Mario Josue Hernandez:
Mario Josue Hernandez Portillo, 34 years old. He obtained a diploma on Bakery and Pastry and began a small bakery in his house. He sells different kinds of bread. He also attended our Barista course, and is now able to produce and sell various coffee gourmet drinks. Mario is looking forward to next year when he plans to enlarge his business.
