Tanzania

 East Africa

Please join Airline Ambassadors

and Serengeti Expeditions

in on-going trips to fantastic

Tanzania!

This incredible trip includes delivering school supplies, aid, donations, and playing and interacting with orphans in an environment that encourages the cultivation of "family" support.  One on one interactions, including play time, teaching opportunities, and singing, are encouraged.  Emotional support is a large part the orphanage's programs for success and volunteers will have the opportunity to share in their philosophy.

Safaris, game drives, scenic touring of the Serengeti, and souvenir shopping are all included.

Don't miss this opportunity to give of yourself and receive the beauty of East Africa and her young treasures!

Tanzania Trip At-A-Glance

Dates: Please see Travel Calendar

Arrive at Kilimanjaro Int'l Airport.

Karibu – Welcome in Kiswahili.  Arrival will be at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) in Arusha.
Upon arrival you are warmly received and transferred to the Lodge/hotel. Arusha is the exact
center between Cairo and Cape Town and is the capital of the East African Community. If you
choose to fly to Tanzania via Nairobi, Kenya, transfer via our shuttle buses can be made straight
from Nairobi to our lodge (Ngurdoto Mountain Lodge) in Arusha.

Day 2:

A Visit to Sluys/Anderson Primary School.

After breakfast, you'll depart for the village of Sakila to visit Sluys Anderson Primary School. Located in a beautiful crater like setting between mount Meru and Mt. Kilimanjaro, Sakila is a serene place, which is bordered by a natural forest. While there you will engage with the school children. You will deliver school supplies, monetary aid (if applicable), medical check up for all the children and spend a few hours playing and teaching kids new games. You'll also engage in planting a sustainable garden for the school where children get their vegetables for lunch. You'll be served
lunch at the school and from there you'll return to your hotel.

Overnight: The Ngurdoto Mountain Lodge

Day 3:

A Visit to Christ Hope Orphanage.

After breakfast, you'll depart for the town of Arusha to visit the Christ Hope Orphanage. Located in the outskirts of town, Christ Hope Orphanage is a now extension of International Evangelism Outreach. The main even today will be to interact with the children (play games, hold them, sing with them ... generally, just to love them so they have a one on one interaction with an adult).  This is an essential part of how we operate the orphanage.  Often, many of the orphans suffer from emotional issues, but by cultivating a culture of "family", whereby each child receives personal attention from time to time, we believe we can influence these children to live a life much like a child with two parents.

In addition, you will also deliver school supplies, monetary aid
(if applicable), medical check up for all the children. You will have lunch with the children and
after lunch you can spend more time with the children before returning to the lodge.

Overnight: Ngurdoto Mountain Lodge

Day 4:

Lake Manyara

Lake Manyara offers a diverse group of tribes, most of whom make baskets and earn their living offering various products and services to this town, which mostly depends on tourists for its survival. Before embarking on your first National Park safari, you'll do a morning walking safari through the trails of Lake Manyara with a guided tour. After lunch you'll start your game viewing in Lake Manyara National Park. From soaring groundwater forests and a tranquil lake, to the mountain
escarpment of the Great Rift Valley, Lake Manyara National Park boasts an incredible wealth of habitats and diverse African wildlife. Guests are offered an exciting, interpretive safari experience in game-rich surrounds which include large herds of elephant and buffalo. Lake Manyara Hotel is dramatically located in the very edge of the vertiginous western escarpment of the Rift Valley, affording magnificent views down across the whole lake.
Approximate walking tour: 3 hours

Know Before You Go:

Tanzania

Location:

Arusha, Tanzania is the tourist capital of Tanzania and home to East Africa Community.

Tanzania boasts some of the friendliest people in all of Africa.

Language:

Tanzania uses two languages as national languages, English and Kiswahili.

However, not all people in the rural areas understand English, so our driver/guides will be available to assist in every way possible.

Currency and Credit Cards:

The national currency in Tanzania is the shilling, also known as Tsh/=.   However, most hotels accept international currencies, US$ included.  There are many private Bureau de change and banks. Payments in hotels/lodges may be settled by credit cards.  However, the exchange rate favors cash over credit cards.

Tipping:

We often recommend a $ 5 minimum per day, per person.  However, all tips are at the guest's discretion.

Electricity:

Most hotels/resorts have electricity and it is 240 volts.  If you bring (American) hair driers, shavers and other small appliances, plugs are 3 pinned square and usually require a power adapter/transformer.

Food and Water:

Please only consume food and water in places recommended by your guides.  Under no circumstance should you drink tap water.  In most cases, mineral water will be provided.  In situations where water is not provided, please buy bottled water.
