This is Ruth's story from the recent escort to Africa with little 12 year old John.......he had come to the US...but the doctors could do nothing, and Ruth escorted him home. Of all the kids that she has escorted - she said he had the most life......and it makes her so sad that he will not be long on earth - ....Even though he has no arms he was able even to drink a glass of apple juice with his feet!

 I just returned from a trip to Africa in which I escorted a little "angel", named John, back to his home in Nairobi, Kenya.
John is 12 years old and was in the states for surgery due to severe scoliosis. He was born with no arms. Surgery could not be performed on him. It was deemed "too much of a risk". Unfortunately, his time here on earth is limited but his gentle soul will be an "eternal memory" for me.
 John has an incredible, joyful spirit and lot of energy. You can see his strong desire to live in his eyes. His sense of humor kept us awake for the long journey back to his home...we laughed so much...he is smart, curious, aware of his surroundings, and has no problem asking for what he needs.
 
John has a Dad, brother and sister. His sister just had successful brain surgery. His Mom passed (HIV) and is Dad has HIV.
 
Africa is a beautiful country with so many of "God's creatures roaming so freely in their own habitat." I was blessed to have spent time with John and to see his country.
I have escorted many children around the world and have traveled quite a bit, but, this trip, by far, will be very special to me.

There are so many children out there who need us. Please keep John in our prayers. I know he will be touching so many more lives through his gifted spirit and undying hope.
